Reimagining Access to Education

Project

Pathshala

Date

2010

Location

Dwarka, Delhi, India

Lives Impacted

6,000+ students through 42 replicated bridge schools

Launched in 2010, Pathshala was Mohit Raj’s first initiative with his co-founder, Saanchi Marwaha, rooted in the belief that children who miss early schooling due to migration or poverty are not behind—they are simply excluded by rigid systems. Pathshala introduced a bridge-learning model that condensed foundational literacy and numeracy, enabling children to re-enter mainstream schools at age-appropriate grades.

Designed as a replicable, government-adaptable model, Pathshala prioritised learning recovery without stigma, placing trust in children’s ability to catch up when given the right tools.

What it led to: A model that has remained operational for over 16 years, informing large-scale bridge-school replication. The work earned Mohit the William J. Clinton Fellowship and TEDx invitations. One of the first children enrolled—who had never attended school—is now a finance graduate and serves as Finance & Administration Head at Mohit’s foundation.
