Project Unlearn

Project Unlearn emerged from an in-depth study of 300 incarcerated men accused of crimes against women, grounded in the belief that cycles of sexual harm can be interrupted through education, accountability, and agency. Rather than focusing only on punishment, the initiative works to help men and boys critically examine and transform beliefs around consent, masculinity, power, and responsibility.

Operating across prisons and urban communities, Unlearn combines a 45-hour evidence-informed curriculum with a diagnostic tool that allows participants to locate and evolve their own gender belief systems. The approach treats prevention as a design challenge—one that can be institutionalised within justice, education, and community systems.

What it led to: International recognition, including the Swedish Institute Gender Leader Lab Award and the ILSS Award, for advancing scalable, preventive approaches to addressing rape culture.
